Ice cube shelf life

2021/08/23
A cold knowledge: Does ice have a shelf life? 】The Ministry of Commerce SB/T 10017-2008 'Frozen Drinks and Edible Ice Industry Standards' stipulates that edible ice is a frozen drink made from drinking water as raw material through processes such as sterilization, injection molding, freezing, demoulding, and packaging. Because the preservation of ice cubes is closely related to factors such as microorganisms and temperature in the environment, the standard does not clearly stipulate the shelf life of edible ice. However, studies have shown that if companies can produce and store in strict accordance with production standards, edible ice can be stored for 6 to 10 months. During transportation, ensure that the ice does not undergo repeated freezing and thawing. When it comes to downstream businesses, try to use it as soon as possible. If it can't be used up at one time, it should be stored in a special cold storage ≤ -12°C, and the cold storage should be cleaned and disinfected regularly to prevent ice from being contaminated. If you make ice cubes at home, it is best to use boiled water, seal it and let it cool, and put it in the freezer layer of the refrigerator. Such water does not contain pathogenic bacteria and can be stored for a long time under suitable conditions. When storing, keep away from other foods to avoid cross-contamination, and do not freeze and thaw repeatedly, use up as soon as possible. (Life Times)
